Today, the University of Jeddah launched the "Craft and Profession" (Hirfa wa Mihna) exhibition. The event is jointly organized by the University of Jeddah Chair for Community Support and the College of Designs and Arts, in cooperation with the Heritage Commission. This initiative comes within the framework of supporting and empowering handicraft owners and aligns with the Kingdom's declaration of 2025 as the Year of Saudi Handicrafts.
The exhibition aims to enhance national identity and provide an interactive educational experience for students and the community. It highlights artisanal heritage and its renewed authenticity, consistent with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The event witnessed distinguished participation from university students and staff, alongside artisans affiliated with the Handicrafts Charity Association (Hirfati). Diverse handmade works were displayed, reflecting inherited artistic skills blended with contemporary creativity.
The exhibition also featured a dialogue session titled "Heritage Arts and Fashion: Between the Authenticity of the Craft and Modernity." This session discussed ways to integrate heritage with the present and highlighted handicrafts as a sustainable economic and cultural resource.
This exhibition serves as a model of integration between academic, societal, and cultural entities. It seeks to empower artisans, enhance community awareness regarding the value of traditional crafts, and connect new generations with their cultural roots through educational and creative platforms.
