Privacy Policy – UJ Connect

Introduction

The mobile application - UJ Connect - is a free application. The services are provided by the University at no cost and are intended for use as is.

This Privacy Policy is used to inform application users regarding our policies on the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information if anyone chooses to use our service.

If you choose to use the UJ Connect mobile applications and services, then you agree to all terms of this policy. The personal information we collect is used to provide and improve the service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

To obtain the service through the mobile application, we will ask you to provide certain personally identifiable information, as follows:

• Employee staff ID number (for login through the University Single Sign-On)
• Student university ID number (for login through the University Single Sign-On)
• National ID number (for login through Nafath)

Please note that:

• User data (staff or university ID / event logs) will not be collected or stored in the University data center; otherwise, it is automatically deleted and not reused, as described in this Privacy Policy.

• Required user data is only shared with University systems.
• This application does not use any third-party services that may collect information used to identify you.
• The application does not use any third-party codes or libraries that use user data or information.

Log Data

We would like to inform you that whenever you use our mobile application and service, and in the event of an error in the application, we collect data and information on your phone known as Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device name, device model, operating system, IP address, application configuration when using our service, the time and date of your use of the service, and other statistics. It may be reviewed by the Cybersecurity Department or the Digital Transformation and Information Technology Center in the event of any incident.

Cookie Service Providers

Cookies are files containing a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. They make your app experience easier by saving browsing information. Using cookies, you may stay signed in, remember preferences, and receive relevant localized content. These are created and sent to your browser and stored in your device’s internal memory. This service does not explicitly use cookies. You have the option either to accept or refuse these cookies and to know when a cookie is being sent to your device. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some parts of the application services.

Service Providers

The University of Jeddah may engage Digital Transformation and Information Technology, as well as third-party companies and individuals, for the following reasons:

• To facilitate our service.
• To provide the service on behalf of the Cybersecurity Department or the Digital Transformation and Information Technology Center.
• To perform service-related tasks.
• To assist us in analyzing how our service is used.

We want to inform users of this service that these third parties may have access to your personal information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.

The application and mobile service do not contain links to other websites. However, they may contain links to websites operated by the University of Jeddah. If you click on any link, you will be directed to the provided service.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Therefore, you are advised to review the policy periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on the University of Jeddah website. These changes become effective immediately upon being posted on the website.
